From the revolutionary LG KE850 Prada, touch based phones has become high seller for LG, but Samsung is going to change all that, they too have their own touch screen ace. Now presenting their latest masterpiece, the Samsung F480 Tocco, everyone is racing towards getting the best free line rental deal with free gifts on this phone. You can't blame them, it is quite costly but for the features and overall usability you get from this phone, I won't be surprised if you would also be fumbling to get the best Samsung F480 line rental discount. Well, let's take a look at what this phone is capable of.

Design:
  • For a full touch screen mobile it naturally has a large screen, boasting a 2.8 Inch TFT 262k color touch screen.
  • The colors are manipulated in in 240 x 320 pixels resolution.
  • This makes the phone a top-notch in viewing images from your taken videos and pictures.
  • The user interface looks good and fits the whole theme of the F490.
  • The keypads are all virtual, warning to people who aren't used to touchscreen functionality. They are nicely animated and very responsive.
  • Widgets and menu looks cool, but its a bit choppy.
  • The phone has real keys but they are only for receiving and ending calls.

Camera:

  • It has 5 megapixel camera which captures pictures in great details.
  • Unfortunately the phone only has an Auto Focus function with pretty much do the job at taking causal pictures.
  • The Flash is nothing to brag about but this is enough to light things up when needed.
  • If you're patient enough to learn changing the settings that works on your favor, then you've got a good phone that takes good quality pictures.

Multimedia:

The Samsung F480 Tocco has nice multimedia capabilities.

  • Like most phones, it has a music player and a video player.
  • The music player has great audio quality plus the speakers are loud, it plays virtually all the common files specifically in MP3, AAC and AAC+.
  • The video player is great and can play H264, H263 & MPEG4. Its got an FM Radio complete with RDS.

Messaging and calling:

Messaging and Calling capabilities are important functions of a phone and the Samsung F480 does a good job.

  • The F480 supports common messaging formats in SMS(Text Messaging), EMS(Enhanced Messaging) and MMS (Multimedia Messaging).
  • It has Instant Messaging, Email and Predictive Text Input functionalities that a regular user would love.
  • On calling, the F480 has a Tri Band frequency, uses GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900. These frequencies are common in the UK and most of USA, so you won't have much problems connecting there.
  • Roaming is easy for the Samsung F480, these frequencies are switched automatically so you wouldn't have to put any effort switching it.
  • Network coverage depends much on the provider though, so keep it in mind when traveling.
Internet:

The Samsung F480 is an excellent 3G phone also good in connecting through the Internet.

  • It has a fast data transfer rate technology implemented on the phone allowing fast Internet connection. The video call functionality is excellent with 3G HSDPA implementation. It has EDGE technology, which is 3x faster than GPRS (included).
  • The phone has WAP 2.0 browser, pre-installed and ready to use. The phone also allows you to transfer files easily via Bluetooth and USB support.

Memory and battery:

The phone has quite good memory but a memory card is suitable.

  • It has MicroSD memory card support which enables the phone to have a much larger memory.
  • And for the battery power, the Samsung F480 is mediocre compared to other touch screen phones, it only has a 3 hours talk time or 250 hours standby time.

Overall, the phone has good specs for an all around use. It definitely looks good and is suited for everybody. Its a good choice if you want a good touchscreen phone.
